About Us

Marshall D. Cohen

"I truly understand both how difficult the decision to file bankruptcy is and how important the decision to file bankruptcy can be. Most people don’t realize the benefits that can be obtained in the bankruptcy court. One of the things I most enjoy about my work is educating my clients about the results bankruptcy can provide and then being able to obtain those same results for my clients before the court. I’m so very appreciative of the many clients who tell me how much better their lives are after they file, and who refer their friends and relatives to me.

I graduated from The Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve School of Law. I have devoted the past 20 years exclusively to the practice of bankruptcy law. I have helped individuals and business owners, and I have also represented small businesses in bankruptcy. I am a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, The American Bankruptcy Institute and the Columbus (Ohio) Bar Association. I live in Columbus, Ohio, with my wife, two children, and two cats. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering with The Adapted Adventure Sports Coalition—an organization which assists the disabled in enjoying outdoor activities--and I am a certified Level I adapted ski instructor."

"I grew up in Champaign County, Ohio, and attended West Liberty-Salem High School. Upon graduating from The Ohio State University in 2004 with a degree in accounting, I decided to pursue a career in the law. I attended Capital University Law School in Columbus, graduating in May of 2007.

During the summer after my first year at Capital University, I worked as a loan officer for a small firm in Columbus. I learned that with any kind of lending – be it credit cards, personal loans, or mortgages – there are instances where consumers can be misled or, even worse, taken advantage of. My time in the mortgage industry gave rise to my interest in protecting consumers from abusive lending practices.

The issues that I witnessed while working in the mortgage industry are the things that I try to help my bankruptcy clients resolve or avoid altogether. Recently, I have begun to work more closely with our bankruptcy clients to obtain mortgage modifications. I believe that by using a combination of loan modification, consumer protection, and bankruptcy relief, I can provide the best possible financial solutions for our clients. My goals are to provide a great experience and a positive outcome for our clients financially and to relieve their stress to that they can recover and plan for the future.

I live in Columbus, Ohio, with my girlfriend and our two cats. I am a proud Ohio native and a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Cincinnati Bengals."
